A new law in Belgium celebrated by activists for providing a “labour contract” to prostitutes will also enable their pimps to punish them with a government mediator if they refuse s*x more than 10 times in a six-month period. The Belgian Parliament voted for the law on May 3, with 93 in favor, zero opposed, and 33 abstentions.
The legislation is being touted as a win by UTSOPI, the Belgium Union of S*x Workers, which had lobbied extensively for the legislation. The law outlines that prostitutes will receive health insurance, a pension, maternity and holiday leave, and unemployment benefits. Their pimps will be forced to provide them with a “safety button” to use for emergencies.
Their website claims that the law “is a historic step in the battle for s*x workers' rights” and will create a “respectful, fair relationship” between prostitutes and their pimps, with UTSOPI spokesperson Daan Bauwens telling media that he believes “Belgium is really demonstrating that it aims to protect s*x workers, regardless of any moral judgements about the profession people may have.”
Prostitutes are to be granted “rights” to refuse sexual acts, stop sexual acts, perform sexual acts in the manner they prefer, and refuse to sit behind Amsterdam-style windows (public facing windows where prostitutes are on display). However, should a prostitute use these “rights” 10 times within six months, their pimp can then call on a government mediator to intervene.
All pimps must have a registered office and apply to the Belgian government for approval to offer contracts to prostitutes. The contracts will be disguised as hotel-restaurant-café (HoReCa) contracts so that prostitutes can remain anonymous.
Andrea Heinz, a prostitution abolition advocate, called out the new legislation on X (formerly Twitter).
“There is little chance this will (actually) favour women. Under legalization/full decrim, pimps become ‘managers' with the backing of the state to further entrench and maintain their power. Pimps see women they sell as products, not people deserving of full dignity & respect.”
Outside the realm of so-called “s*x work” activism, social media users have expressed horror at the new law.
“So the [government] helps pimps to coerce s*x, what a disgusting idea,” posted X user @Bob16747466.

......... Do they HAVE to travel in the bike lane? Can't bike lanes be for, I dunno, bikes? Fricking leg powered bicycles?
Edit: I'm sorry this is going to ruffle some of you, but frick off. The city didn't remove traffic lanes for you frickers to have a personal lane. You want to go 45mph on what is essentially a motorcycle? get your butt in the car lane with the rest of them, chicken-shit!
Edit 2: I'm not seeing this in the article, but do you need a license to drive one? Can you ticket one? If it can't idle on the curb, where does it go to deliver things? -- stay in the bike lane? ...you all know this is just big companies trying to scale back labor costs and city taxes (parking tickets, etc) right? There is zero reason this can't ride in the street.

Apparently, in the slave state, you need to ask permission from the government to exercise a constitutional right, which apparently triggers pigs in their big brother surveillance system to ask questions about your second amendment rights

People upset about bloxburg becoming free is going to far.
I've just passed up the posts and comment about it becoming free in the past because I didn't care. But now it's getting annoying.
We paid for a beta game, like many other games, when it's no longer in beta it will become free for anyone to play. Calling the people who didn't pay for the game poor is too far. You are not rich for paying like 25, 50, 80, robux for a beta game. MBGA was funny for a while but calling people poor and the segregation and comunism jokes are too far. I do not care if these are jokes or not. It's too far, it's not funny, and it's beyond childish.
If you truly want to make bloxburg great again, then welcome these new players and make a respectful fun player base. A toxic player base is only going to make the game die faster.

supporting any sort of border control makes you a segregationist
segregation and separation isn't funny, at all.
Stop entertaining such posts and jokes, as most of those posts are created by kids, who recently started playing and want to feel a sense of special treatment..
OG players don't have issues with the game going free, only the newer ones have an issue, that could tell you, who is really the problems.
Don't engage in such posts, suggesting segregation or separation. Thank you. 🙏

Segregation, seriously?
I don't understand, why are some people so pressed about bloxburg going free? We were all noobs when we started the game, the only difference between us and them is that we paid and are more experienced than they are. That doesn't make us any more special than they are. The fact that you're bringing segregation into this is disturbing. I know some of you are actually just joking but sometimes certain jokes go too far or aren't funny. But, some of you are actually serious about it which is crazy, cause honestly it's just a game. Bloxburg isn't the first game going free after costing something. For example, Sims 4 became free after a while of costing like 45$, I'm pretty sure it also happened with Fortnite and Destiny 2. My point is that it's not that big of a deal and bringing real life problems into a game is honestly not the right move. Some may not agree with me and if you don't then at least be kind about it, I'm not trying to have comments cursing me out for having an opinion.
Anywho, bloxburg has been not-free for many years, making it free would be good. Especially since servers are literally dead constantly, there's barely ever any roleplays and it gets boring. Personally, it's driving me a tad bit crazy. I think getting more players than before will definitely be a good change for bloxburg.
Bringing segregation into a game made for literally all ages which includes young kids who don't even know what segregation is, is stupid. Those people don't deserve to be treated like they're not equal. We're all human here, there's no reason to be that way. It's gotten quite far, those jokes were funny at first until people started actually being serious about it or making unsettling posts and comments about it.

These “Protest” are so annoying and un-funny.
I see these videos all over tiktok “protesting” and “boycotting” against bloxburg. How are you boycotting the game but still joining it and playing it. And they're always using that one audio “stand up” which was from a movie about Harriet Tubman and helping other slaves escape to freedom. I find it really disrespectful, insensitive and very un-
funny. Like if you wanna boycott the game then STOP playing it. Playing the game and standing in front of the city hall isn't doing anything…

At first I thought the whole protest joke was funny but it's so annoying like, it's been weeks now. I literally saw a plot where someone was dancing in front, the building had a torn down look and the owner was like spamming in chat, "BLOXBURG HAS GIVEN US UNFAIR TREATMENT, BOYCOTT THE GAME" Or something like that... people were so annoyed with the spamming like, you can't force people who still enjoy the game to leave cause you don't like the update. Don't join the game and cry about it if you hate it :/

If you ever wanna know why capitalism sucks, think about how many people you've known who wanna open a 24 hour coffeeshop and bookstore (with a cat) if they ever get rich vs how many rich people ever actually open a 24 hour coffeeshop and bookstore (with a cat).

If you ever wanna know why capitalism sucks, think about how many people you've known who wanna open a 24 hour coffeeshop and bookstore (with a cat) if they ever get rich vs how many rich people ever actually open a 24 hour coffeeshop and bookstore (with a cat).
Like, the world would undeniably be a happier place if every town had at least one 24 hour coffeeshop and bookstore (with a cat). People would go there all the time. But maybe not enough to make a constantly increasing profit. Maybe not even enough to pay extortionate rent.

Innovation is figuring out how to make a 24 hour coffeeshop and bookstore (with a cat) work in your town, not making VR goggles nobody has a use for or making phones so thin they blow away if you leave em on a table outside. Innovation is doing more with less, not less with more.
